Czech Republic - Prague

Regional Travel Advice
- Czech law requires that all visitors and citizens be able to verify their identity if asked by officials. Foreign visitors must carry their passport with them at all times.- Visitors who are stopped by police officers must be wary of fraudsters posing as police. There have been incidents where so-called police officers have asked travellers for their passport and foreign currency, to check for counterfeit notes. The Czech Police have no right to inspect your currency and should have no reason to do so. If you believe a police officer to be fake, offer to accompany him/her to the nearest police station before complying with any requests- The crime rate is low but tourist areas such as Prague are heavily frequented by pickpockets who often operate on public transport, in tourist-dense areas and even on flights.
