- Most travellers flying into Colombia will arrive in Bogota, which has an altitude of over 2600 metres above sea level. Some individuals may be sensitive to the high altitude and will need time to adjust. Be aware of the symptoms of altitude sickness and research any measures you can undertake to help acclimatize yourself to the increased elevation (e.g. avoid exerting yourself, stay well hydrated, avoid drinking alcohol).- Violent crime, including armed robbery and kidnapping, is prevalent throughout Colombia. Visitors are advised to be especially vigilant.- Visitors to Colombia are advised to exercise a very high degree of caution when in the country, and avoid travelling to certain regions (e.g. Araca, Cordoba amongst many others).
