Greece - Athens

Regional Travel Advice
- Strikes are common in Greece and can occur with minimal warning. Industrial action can disrupt public transport, including air travel. - Making an “OK” sign by encircling your thumb and forefinger is seen as a rude gesture, as is holding a hand up with palm facing outward (like saying bye). Use a thumbs-up instead to mean “OK” and say bye by waving with the back of your hand, as the Greeks do. Be aware that Greeks slightly incline their heads down to mean “yes”; a more vigorous upward nod means “no”.
